You have easy access in all directions from the Peperhoeve. You can explore the surroundings of the Alblasserwaard (the large polder between the big rivers Lek, Merwede and Noord, with several villages (inclusive Oud Alblas and Kinderdijk) and small cities in any way you like, walking, by bicycle, car or canoe.
If you prefer to walk there are the Oud Alblas trail, the Kinderdijk trail and the Blokweerroute to choose from. The long distance LAW 1-3 walking route comes past the Peperhoeve. A lot of new ‘nature’ paths have been laid out in 5 and 10 km. distances, and don’t forget to enjoy a citywalk through beautiful Dordrecht or Nieuwpoort.
If
you enjoy cycling the Alblasserwaard has lots to offer. There is the Molenroute
(Windmill route) which will take you past the famous Kinderdijk windmills
(43 Km) where you can visit a windmill or take a boattrip. The Ooievaarsroute
(Stork route) where you come by the ‘Ooievaarsdorp’ (Stork
breeding station) in Groot Ammers (39 Km), bicycle routes along the various
farms in the Alblasserwaard and many more. We offer bicycle rental.
From
the landing-stage at the Peperhoeve you can take a canoe to the windmills
of Kinderdijk, go to the village Alblasserdam till the old lock or go
down stream the Alblas. We offer Canoe rental.
During
winter season when the water has frozen enough the famous schaatsmolentochten
(windmill skating trip) can be made in 25, 50 and 70 Km. If the weather
is a little less favorable you can go aboard the Fast Ferry in Alblasserdam
which goes to Rotterdam or Dordrecht for shopping.
